: Emilie Sasha Yap
Hi delegates! I'm Sasha, and I'm honored to be serving as your head chair for this year's crisis council. As someone who's always been interested in the Roman Empire, I cannot wait to see what chaos ensues. But when I'm not knee-deep in an MUN, I like spending my time painting while a video essay about some random topic plays in the background or simply doomscrolling the day away...That said, good luck delegates!

Greetings delegates! My name is Kenzie and I am honored to be part of this amazing backroom team for SVPMUN Crisis 2026. I understand that crisis can be seen as a council that is extremely difficult, but do not fret, it is definitely going to be 10x more worse than imagined, also do note that if a directive passes it does not mean it is a good directive. Godspeed delegates, may fortune lie upon you!

Hi I'm Steven, a 12th Grade student from Canisius College. "I am Caesar, I am the Legion, The Legion dies with me" quoted from one of the works inspired by the Roman Empire. In the wake of the death of one of debatably histories greatest leaders. Delegates are forced to confront the chaotic time of post usurping power disputes. Will the empire fall into civil war or emerge a new Republic? That remains to be seen as I look forward to the anachronisms and chaos that is sure to come from this crisis council.

The Ides of March: The Dawn of Empire or the Death of the Republic?
The year is 44 BCE. Julius Caesar, having declared himself βDictator for Life,β has just been assassinated by a faction of senators claiming to defend the ancient ideals of the Republic. Blood still stains the floor of the Theatre of Pompey. Rome, in a political limbo, consists of a city divided by fear, grief, ambition, and lust for power.Β
The assassins, calling themselves Liberatores, argue they acted in the name of liberty to stop tyranny from crystallizing into a monarchy. On the other end of the spectrum, Caesarβs loyalists, including military generals, populist leaders, and the masses who adored him, see the killing as betrayal.Β
The Senate is paralyzed. The Forum is restless. Legions await orders. The mob hungers for vengeance or justice, though they no longer know the difference. Meanwhile, foreign powers watch Rome with interest, sensing an empire vulnerable to fracture, invasion, or opportunity. The Senate must reconvene, not only to debate the future of Caesarβs reforms, but to determine whether Rome will return to republican tradition or continue down the path toward imperial rule.
Debate Focus: In what ways did the assassination of Julius Caesar serve the interests of the Republic, and in what ways did it accelerate Romeβs descent into autocracy?
